Isabella  Carroll
Isabella (Fortuna) Carroll, 89, of Cherry Tree died Thursday, October 4, at Logan Regional Medical Center. She was born in Verdunville, a daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine Fortuna of Mt. Gay. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Irie (Bill) Carroll Sr, her sons, Irie (Bill) Carroll Jr. and Ernest (Buddy) Carroll and her granddaughter Anna Mae Carroll Conley. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters: Pauline Jay, Angelina Pansera, and Mary Queen, and two brothers: Johnny Fortuna and Mello Fortuna.
Survivors include her daughter, Pauline Carroll of Wayland, MA, her son Joe (Kathy) Carroll of Wilkinson, her daughters-in-law Joan Carroll of Samford, NC, and Faye Stollings of Chapmaville, six grandchildren: Robert and Michael Carroll of Charleston, Lissie (Rick) Asebes of Grafton, Billy (Michele) Carroll of Monaville, Joey Carroll of Milton, Florida, and Ashley Carroll of Oak Hill. She is also survived by her brother Sammy Fortuna of Mt. Gay.

In addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren Emily Triplett, Kayla Paynter, Brianna Carroll, and Bella, Abagail, and Elias Asebes and her great, great grandchildren Harlee, Chloe, and Garrett Paynter.
She will also be loved and missed by her many nephews and nieces: Donald (Pam) Queen, Sandra (John) Harlow, Jesse (Teresa)Queen, Florena (Richard) Ojeda, Angela (Bill) Moore, Jody Adams, Tony (Patty) Pansera, Loretta (Tom)Murray, Tony Fortuna, Michael Fortuna, Janet (Clifford) Spurlock, Josephine (Rodney) Reed ,Shirley (John) Nelson and many grand nephews and nieces.

For many years, Mrs. Carroll was part of the family business at Fortuna’s Produce Market of Mt. Gay. She enjoyed bowling, Bingo, and playing cards in her spare time. She was a member of the Catholic faith.

Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan with Father Yesu Golla officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Friends may call from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Akers-James Funeral Home at Aracoma where a Rosary service will be recited at 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Robert, Michael, Billy and Joey Carroll. Honorary pall bearers are: Donald Queen, John Harlow, Tony Pansera, Richard Ojeda, Sr. and Richard Ojeda, Jr.
